STEADFALL

STEADFALL

Under development

Steadfall puts you on a whole Earth with nothing but your hands. Dig, wire the power, automate the work, and climb from flint tools to technological warfare and the planets overhead. Every world is a scenario file you can open and rewrite, with full scripting and mod support underneath.

Early Access opens October 1, 2027. For Windows, Linux, Android and iOS.

In engine

One game, infinite ways to play

Partial

A world's rules live in an editable scenario file, not a settings menu. Raiding, Survival and Sandbox ship as baselines, and each one is just a starting point. Rewrite the file and you get a different game: a homesteading run where you buy your land before you can dig it, a resource famine, a race to orbit. Nothing separates a scenario we shipped from one you wrote last night.

The night sky over a treeline: a waxing gibbous moon and a field of stars.

Power runs on cable you place

Built

A grid is whatever your cable actually connects. Isolating a circuit is not a menu option, it is a thing you build. The same goes for fluids and for moving items around: pipes and tubes are real objects taking up real space in a base that is a dug volume, not a factory floor.

A yard at night: garden lamps strung together on cables that run through the grass past a generator and a battery to a house.

Every ore is somewhere specific

Built

Underground is not a resource layer. It is the other half of the map. Every rock hosts different ore, and the only way to learn what a world is made of is to go into it and keep going. Caverns that run for hundreds of meters, flooded galleries, shafts that swallow a dropped lamp, chambers carved out by water or heat. You will fill your pack on the way, because the deeper rock holds the better metal. But no two descents look alike.

A cave wall in the beam of a headlamp, with clusters of ore glinting pale green out of the dark rock.

The manifest

01 Built

A world you can dig

Dig or blast anywhere and it stays dug. Caves, ore, rivers, weather and a horizon six kilometers out, in a 32 kilometer world that loops rather than ending at a wall.

02 Built

Starting with nothing

Flint, sticks and fiber off the ground, knapped into four tiers of tools. Flint cannot mine, so the first pick is something you earn.

03 Built

Building

A 4 meter grid and a build menu. Five frame tiers and fourteen wall materials, one wall per frame, and four resistances that average between them. Walls come in five shapes with doorways and windows cut into them, a crowbar takes a piece apart for a full refund, and a drone builds where you cannot reach.

04 Built

Power, machines and pipes

Real wires in three tiers and separate grids, an ore refining chain that quadruples yield, fluid networks and pneumatic logistics.

05 Built

Light that behaves

Day and night, moon phases that change how bright the night is, and underground dark enough that your headlamp matters.

06 Built

Sky and seasons

Poles, latitude and two hemispheres with opposite seasons on a real calendar, a sun that follows your latitude and the date, planets on real orbits, and eclipses and meteor showers on schedule. Weather you can walk into, and snow and ice that come and go with the season.

07 Built

Multiplayer and servers

A headless server owns the world and corrects clients rather than throwing them around. Every player is a signed in account the server confirms, voice is proximity based on push to talk, and hosts are found on the local network. The server can kick, ban and unban, and name trusted players as operators.

08 Built

Terrain and exploration

Caves in three depth tiers, hydrology that cuts channels through the ground it crosses, ore in six depth bands, and a 32 kilometer world that loops: no wall, no edge, and a far side worth walking to.

09 Built

Geology

Twelve rocks in four classes, stacked per column in the order rock stacks, and every ore names which rocks may host it. A prospecting pick reports what is really buried under you, including nothing.

10 Built

The map

A map that fills in as you explore and stays dark where you have not been. Share a spot and it drops coordinates into chat that anyone can click.

11 Built

Modding

A model file plus a short text file adds a held item, something you place, a character or a replacement body. Read off disk at launch, with no rebuild and no code.

12 Built

Crafting

Recipes off a bench or out of your hands, a craft queue with three durations and a cap of eight jobs, and a research bench that halves the basic times and gates what needs a bench.

13 Partial

Trees, grass and water

Apple trees you can fell for wood, meadows of grass and dandelions drawn by the graphics card, and water with waves, foam and rain rings. One tree species so far, with more trees, flowers and plants on the way.

14 Partial

Phones and controllers

The game runs on Android with touch controls, gamepads work on desktop and phone, and every platform grows the same world from the same seed. No phone build has been released yet.

15 Partial

Scenarios

A world's rules should come from a scenario file you can edit: what is unlocked, what you start with, what you may place and break. Today a server can load a script that refuses what a player asks to do, and a world stores two settings.

16 Partial

The tech tree

Stone age out to energy weapons, force fields and power armor. There is no research and no unlock system yet. Progression today falls out of what things cost to make.

17 Partial

Combat

Sharp weapons cause bleeding that worsens with every hit, patching up stops it without healing you, hard plates stop blades and not blunt force, and a blunt hit can stun. Today melee is settled by the server and armor reduces damage; none of the rest exists yet.

18 Partial

Characters and clothing

Characters you create, name and model, with cosmetic clothing you earn or make and sell. There is one generated body today, the same for everyone.

19 Partial

Anticheat

In Raiding, everyone should know their opponents are playing fairly. Today the server checks reach and rate on every request and a ban holds against the account. Movement is not validated yet.

20 Not built

The Scroll

The one thing you start with: a multitool, guide and communication device carrying a snapshot of human knowledge, survival advice and objectives to follow. Worn on the left hand, it is also the flashlight, scanner and camera.

21 Not built

Survival and training

Stay fed, warm, rested and trained, and your player runs faster, hits harder and carries more. Nobody spends points: a body trains itself by staying healthy and staying challenged. Today there is health and stamina, and nothing else.

22 Not built

Operators and agents

You are the operator behind a roster of agents, and spend one at a time on a server until it dies. Your base, stash and bed stay put. The lore behind it, a parallel Earth nobody settled, is not locked in, and none of it is in the game yet.

23 Not built

Wildlife

Animals to hunt and be hunted by, each yielding its own materials. No creature exists, and there is no animal AI in the game at all.

24 Not built

Space travel

Every planet in the system, out to the Kuiper Belt, each with its own hazards and materials, gated behind the tech tree. Most of the game is played on Earth. Nothing of this exists yet.
